Danny Sambuca Biography

Thank you for visiting my website. I am Daniel Ackerley (aka Danny Sambuca) and I bought my first ever camera in July 2007. A long held personal interest in imagery of all kinds was the main reason for this but also a general obsession with trying to find something to do with my life that filled me with as much passion as music was a big factor. Rock stardom was plan A, rock music photography stardom is plan B.

It was around Jan 2008 that I was asked to shoot my first live gig and this was at The Barfly venue in my home city of Cambridge. It was a nerve wracking experience but I felt really at home in the live music enviroment so decided to do my best to improve the skills needed to excel in this type of photography. Just over a year later and the images on this website are the result of my attempts.

I think its a fair assumption to presume that I have become rather obsessed with photography - in fact I'm obsessed with music actually and photography has given me a way of expressing this through imagery. I love nothing more then working with bands and artists to create the perfect press photos or the best live shots to really represent what it is they are all about. I understand that it isn't just music that drives bands and artists: it's a whole life and culture choice. Just being in a band does not make you a band - you have to live and breath it 24/7, 365 days a year. I approach my photography work with the same attitude and by doing so I hopefully offer you a unique service.

Fashion and model photography is also something I am currently starting to develop a big interest in and I hope to build up my portfolio of this type of work over the coming year. I frequently get asked similar questions regarding my work and I have compiled a short FAQ section on my portfolio page.
